Schengen 90/180-day calculator

Planning time in Bulgaria? Check how many days you have already spent across the Schengen Area, what remains, and whether your proposed trip fits the rolling 90-days-in-180 rule.

Enter your travel dates

Use every visit to any Schengen country, not Bulgaria alone. Include past visits within the relevant rolling period and preferably your complete recent history.

1. Previous trips to the Schengen Area

Both entry and exit days count. A same-day entry and exit counts as one day. For a trip visiting multiple Schengen countries, enter the first Schengen entry and final Schengen exit, not each country separately.

2. Check your proposed arrival

For someone already in the Schengen Area, a future-entry estimate is not an extension of their current permission. Use this tool to plan a separate future trip.

3. Optional: check your entire trip

Add a departure date to check the whole proposed stay, including days when older travel falls outside the rolling window.

Privacy: calculations run in your browser. We do not send your travel dates to UK2BG or save them to an account.

How to use the Schengen 90/180 rule

For ordinary British short-stay visitors, the Schengen limit is 90 days in any moving 180-day period. On any date, look back over that date plus the preceding 179 calendar days. Your accumulated Schengen short-stay days must not exceed 90. Entry and exit dates count. Bulgaria is in the Schengen Area, so previous visits to countries such as France, Spain or Greece generally contribute to the same limit.

What is the difference between remaining days and a continuous stay?

Unused days on your intended arrival date and the longest continuous stay possible after that date can be different. Previous travel days gradually drop out of the 180-day window. Our calculator checks each proposed day, not just the first and last date.

Important exceptions and limitations

This calculator is for ordinary short-stay planning and assumes your entered dates represent Schengen short-stay days counted under the 90/180 rule. It is not suitable for automatically resolving the rights of holders of national long-stay visas, residence permits, qualifying Withdrawal Agreement documents or nationality-specific bilateral arrangements. Other entry requirements, work rules, past overstays and border decisions remain relevant. If you have a permit or exemption, verify the specific rules with the responsible authority.

Does travelling from Bulgaria to another Schengen country reset my days?

No. A continuous journey between Schengen countries does not reset the 90/180 short-stay allowance.

Does owning a house in Bulgaria mean I can stay longer?

No. Ownership of property alone does not grant immigration residence. Read the full residency guide if you want to live in Bulgaria.

Does the 180-day period restart on 1 January?

No. Every date has a different rolling 180-day reference period. The calendar year does not reset the allowance.

Can I enter multiple countries on one trip?

Yes. Enter the first date you entered the Schengen Area and the last day you left it. Do not count internal movements between Schengen countries as new entries.
